Contribution of the Professorship in LSE Business Review

The Professorship for Strategic Management and Leadership demonstrates the linkages between political ideology and the characteristics of online reviews.

In a new contribution to the LSE Business Review, Prof. Dr. Graf-Vlachy reports on the findings of a joint project with researchers from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the University of Passau that lead to a publication in Business & Information Systems Engineering. The project examined the relationship between internet users’ political ideology and the online reviews they wrote, for example on Amazon. The authors measure political ideology by gauging the political slant of news websites visited by internet users and demonstrate, among other things, that politically more liberal individuals tend to write reviews that are longer and contain more arguments.
