The latest publication of the Professorship for Strategic Management and Leadership studies whether the readability of scientific abstracts in management research has changed over the last thirty years.
In a new publication in the Review of Managerial Science, Prof. Dr. Graf-Vlachy studies if and how the readability of abstracts in management research has changed over the last three decades. Overall, he finds a negative trend regarding readability in a dataset of more than 28,000 abstracts. A part of the trend is explained by an increasing average number of authors, an increased use of scientific jargon, as well as the affiliation of authors with research institutions in English-speaking countries.
