How Ukrainians deal with the psychological pressures of war
Prof. Dr. Graf-Vlachy and researchers from universities in Ukraine, Australia, and China studied how the ongoing war in Ukraine affects the mental health of Ukrainian civilians. They report prevalence rates of psychological symptoms of distress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. In addition, they link these symptoms to productive coping strategies used by Ukrainians to deal with the psychological consequences of war. Their study shows that the Ukrainian population is suffering substantially and suggests that there is an urgent need for mental health care.
