Presentation at the Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST) 2024
At this year's Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST) 2024, which took place in Seattle alongside other INFORMS-organized conferences, the professorship participated by presenting a research paper. The paper by Matthias Schinnen, Prof. Dr. Graf-Vlachy, and Dr. Verena Hossnofsky sheds light on the effects of voluntary disclosure of IT investments on the earnings pressure firms face from the capital markets. Using empirical-quantitative analysis, the study shows that voluntary disclosures in such situations often remain limited and can even trigger negative reactions from investors. The results give reason to reconsider the disclosure requirements for IT investments and advocate for clearer, potentially mandatory, disclosure requirements to increase transparency and reduce information asymmetries in the capital markets. The article was awarded a nomination for the Best Student Paper Award.
